occupational therapy for the transition into motherhood
The transition to motherhood causes an identity shift and requires us to change many of the things that we once were able to do without thinking. Eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom, taking a shower, brushing our teeth, shaving, putting on makeup, having sex all become dependent on the whims of a baby and the support of our partner. Occupational therapy can help. Occupational therapy addresses the things that we do everyday and the way that we do them. The activities of daily living. The self care that is more foundational than bubble baths and journaling. The everyday needs. Occupational therapy can help you not only start to feel like yourself again, but start to feel like yourself in the context of this new identity: mom.
